In 2000, the
Felician Sisters of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Province joined
a movement called For Whom the Bells Toll, a national initiative
to have religious organizations throughout the country toll their
bells whenever there is an execution.
The tolling bells serve as a reminder to all who hear them that
all of us are diminished by continuing acts of state-sponsored murder.
It is intended that the campaign will continue until there is a
moratorium on the death penalty or until the death penalty is abolished
in this country.
For further information, visit the Web site of the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty.
