Each of us is on a journey toward salvation. As Felician Sisters, however, our journey takes on special characteristics. We have chosen – we choose daily – to follow in the footsteps of our foundress, Blessed Mary Angela. We are committed to say Yes! to God, to go where He calls, to be pilgrims on a joyful journey in order to pursue the charism of Blessed Mary Angela.
Here some of our Felician Franciscans share thoughts on their journey.

Sister Mary Anita Bienia
“I have been called by God to be a Felician sister by serving God’s people in the healthcare ministry as a laboratory technologist. I perform and analyze many types of blood tests in several departmental areas in the laboratory.
“I have come to know that only God’s will in our lives brings real peace and joy. My daily Yes! to God among my Felician family and lab family takes many forms – from a listening ear to a compassionate and understanding heart.
“My days are full of intercessory prayer for my co-workers who ask me to pray for their special needs, and I continue to pray for the recovery of the patients whose tests I perform and analyze.
“At the end of a busy day I do find peace in doing God’s work and find joy in being a Felician sister.”

Sister Mary Naomi Suba
“As a Felician sister I have been truly blessed in many ways, especially to have ministered in the field of education for over forty years. This has been an opportunity to not only impart cognitive knowledge, but also to witness to God’s love, thereby instilling a deeper love of God in those whose lives I have been privileged to touch. I have also been able to bring God’s peace, healing, and joy to the world by my service to his people which, hopefully, has been done as Blessed Mary Angela tells us – with a joyful heart.”

Sister Mary Francine Horos
“I enjoy my life as a Felician sister. I am able to follow our foundress, Blessed Mary Angela, in meeting the needs of the times. As a high school principal there are daily opportunities to encourage service in the lives of our young adults. It is personally fulfilling to reach out to the less fortunate by supporting local shelters, collecting food for the school’s food pantry, and distributing clothes to the poor. And doing these acts of charity joyfully is truly Felician.”

Sister Mary Denise Bernas
“My life as a Felician sister is a wonderful life! Our foundress, Blessed Mary Angela, often prayed, Tell me, O Lord, what I should do. On what road will I meet you? I will go there and do everything you will demand of me. My daily walks with God in his service include meeting him in prayer, play, and service to his elderly people.
“In my ministry as the activity director of the Provincial House, I am known as The Fun Nun. As a consultant, I design activity programs to meet the needs of the individuals and their interests.
“Another ministry I enjoy is being the volunteer director. The Felician volunteers are an extension of our family and we are so blessed to have the pleasure of their company as they lend a helping hand in many places.
“Simply put, in the words of Blessed Mary Angela – To love is to give .”

Sr. Mary Alexander Klawinski
“As a Felician sister I have experienced God’s grace in my life in so many ways. First and foremost is the grace of serving God’s people with my sisters in Christ, the Felician Sisters. Being able to teach and to lead young people to a fuller understanding of themselves and of God for over twenty years is unquestionably one of the highlights of my life of service.
“Working with my sisters in my roles of administration was humbling and growth-filled for me. The sisters have been and are examples in my efforts to follow Blessed Mary Angela’s life of simplicity, loyalty to community, love of neighbor, and doing God’s will.
“I am grateful to God for my vocation to the religious life, to my religious family for embracing me in this way of life, and to my birth family for supporting me in my choice to serve the Lord as a religious. God has been generous with his gifts to me.”
